Lindy Hop
...is a type of Swing Dance and there are many definitions to be found. One of our favourites is from some legacy language on Wikipedia 'An African American Vernacular Dance'.
It evolved outside of dance Studios in Nightclubs, basements, living rooms and such.
It has roots in the Charleston of the 1920's but incorporated a breakaway step which gave rise to some of Lindy Hop's most iconic moves such as the Lindy Turn (or Swing Out). It formed the basis for the rock and roll and ballroom jive to develop.
Teachers
We regularly rotate teachers amongst some of the most prominent, fun and lively characters on the Leeds Lindy Hop scene so there's plenty of different expertise and styles to learn from.
